TLDR Clove oil may help hair growth like minoxidil, but more human tests are needed.
This study on 32 male BALB/c mice compared the effects of 10% clove oil and 5% minoxidil on hair growth in testosterone-induced alopecia. Both treatments significantly improved the Anagen/Telogen ratio and follicular density compared to the alopecia control group. Although minoxidil showed a slightly higher follicular density than clove oil, the difference was not significant. Histological analysis supported these results, indicating that clove oil could be a potential alternative treatment for androgenic alopecia, but human trials are needed to confirm its efficacy and safety.
