Changes In Hair Chromium Concentrations With Increasing Distances From Hair Roots

    K. Michael Hambidge, M. L. Franklin, Margaret A. Jacobs
TLDR Hair chromium levels show past nutritional status, not environmental exposure.
The study measured chromium concentrations in hair shafts at varying distances from the scalp and found that these concentrations were not influenced by external environmental exposure. Instead, variations in chromium levels along the hair shaft were similar to changes in newly grown hair over several months, suggesting that these variations reflected past fluctuations in the individual's chromium nutritional status.
