TLDR Granuloma faciale can occur on the scalp, especially in people with advanced hair loss, and may improve with treatment.
This case report describes a rare occurrence of granuloma faciale (GF) on the scalp of a 66-year-old male with advanced androgenetic alopecia, without facial involvement. GF is typically found on sun-exposed facial skin, making its presence on the scalp uncommon. The study notes that GF on the scalp often appears as multiple lesions and is associated with androgenetic alopecia. Histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis, and treatment with hydroxychloroquine resulted in some improvement. The report underscores the importance of recognizing GF's unique presentation on the scalp, especially in those with androgenetic alopecia.
