TLDR The effect of GLP-1 RAs on erectile function is unclear and needs more research.
This narrative review explores the impact of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) on erectile function, particularly in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common complication of diabetes, influenced by factors such as age, disease duration, and glycemic control. GLP-1 RAs, known for their glucose-lowering and cardiovascular benefits, are hypothesized to improve erectile function. However, some preliminary reports suggest a potential link between GLP-1 RA use and ED. The review synthesizes current evidence, highlighting the need for further research to clarify the relationship between GLP-1 RAs and erectile function.
