TLDR Wrinkles, dry skin, and hair changes are common in elderly skin, while infections and eczema are also prevalent.
The study conducted on 400 elderly patients at a tertiary care hospital over 5 months found that physiological skin conditions such as wrinkles (92.50%), xerosis (87.25%), and hair changes (98.75%) are the most common geriatric dermatoses. Infections (31%) and eczema (18.75%) are the prevalent pathological conditions. The research highlights the importance of understanding the spectrum of geriatric dermatoses to inform public health measures, emphasizing early screening for less frequent but significant conditions like tumors.
