TLDR Understanding gender differences in COVID-19 is crucial for effective health strategies.
The narrative review on gender differences in COVID-19 patients indicated that men were at a higher risk of severe outcomes and mortality compared to women. This was attributed to biological factors like hormonal influences and immune response variations, as well as higher rates of comorbidities in men. The review also discussed the role of sex-specific biomarkers and androgens in influencing disease severity. It emphasized the need for gender-specific approaches in managing and treating COVID-19 to improve patient outcomes.
