TLDR A man treated with gefitinib for lung cancer grew new hair on his bald scalp.
A 57-year-old man with androgenic alopecia undergoing treatment with gefitinib 250 mg/day for non-small-cell lung cancer experienced new hair growth on the bald area of his scalp after approximately one month. The new hair differed in texture and color from his normal hair. The treatment with gefitinib was continued, and about nine months later, the hair growth was maintained. This case was reported by Lee LW and colleagues in the journal Clinical Oncology in September 2005.
