TLDR Frizzy hair is fragile and can lead to hair loss and damage if not properly cared for.
Frizzy hair syndrome was common and resulted from the sideways growth and tight coiling of hair fibers. It was often exacerbated by improper grooming practices, leading to ingrown hairs (pili incarnati), infections, and damage. The inherent fragility of frizzy hair made it susceptible to alopecia due to chronic traction, the use of hair relaxers, and perming. Treating these complications was challenging, highlighting the importance of awareness and precautionary measures.
