TLDR The hydrogel with 20% Hibiscus rosa-sinensis extract was the best for potential therapeutic use.
In 2014, a study was conducted to develop a herbal hydrogel using Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, a plant known for its medicinal properties, including promoting hair growth. The study involved creating various formulations of the gel with different concentrations of the plant extract and evaluating them based on physical parameters, viscosity, skin irritation, and spreadability. The results indicated that the formulation containing 20% plant extract was superior in all evaluated aspects. This suggests that the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis hydrogel could serve as an alternative treatment option and a novel drug delivery system for various therapeutic applications.
