TLDR Polymer JR400 sticks to hair but washes off with detergent.
The study investigated the adsorption of a cationic polymer, Polymer JR400, onto hair fibers using fluorescence microscopy. A fluorescent dye was covalently attached to the polymer to monitor its deposition on hair. The intensity and pattern of fluorescence were tracked over time, revealing significant desorption of the polymer when treated with sodium dodecylsulfate solutions.
January 2023 in “Fashion and textiles” Cationic and nonionic surfactants provide better color intensity and resistance for semi-permanent hair dye than anionic surfactants.
