Preservation of Fertility in Transgender Men on Long-Term Testosterone Therapy: A Systematic Review of Oocyte Retrieval Outcomes During and After Exogenous Androgen Exposure

TLDR Oocyte retrieval is possible for transgender men on testosterone therapy without affecting fertility outcomes.
This systematic review investigated the feasibility and outcomes of oocyte retrieval in transgender men undergoing testosterone therapy. It included 7 case reports, 4 cohort studies, and 2 cross-sectional studies. The findings indicated that oocyte retrieval was viable after prolonged androgen exposure, and there was no direct relationship between the duration of testosterone suspension and fertility preservation outcomes. The review suggested that continuous testosterone administration and the use of aromatase inhibitors during ovarian stimulation could mitigate the distress associated with hormonal ovulation induction. The study highlighted the need for further exploration of fertility preservation methods that align with reproductive desires while minimizing gender dysphoria from hormone therapy suspension.

community Does an increase in testosterone increase hairloss?

in Chat  8 upvotes 2 years ago
Finasteride and minoxidil are effective for hair growth, but increasing testosterone, even naturally with ashwagandha, may increase DHT, potentially affecting hair loss if predisposed to male pattern baldness. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can be beneficial for energy and muscle gain but may expedite hair loss if already prone to it.

People on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) with aggressive androgenetic alopecia (AGA) discuss using Dutasteride or Finasteride, sometimes combined with topical treatments like RU58841 or CB-03-01 (Breezula), to prevent hair loss. Concerns about side effects and costs of certain treatments are mentioned, with one individual sharing their experience of slowed hair loss using Finasteride alone.

community DHT levels and correlation to hair loss

in Chat  3 upvotes 5 months ago
The user experienced hair shedding after starting testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and is considering using DHT blockers like finasteride or dutasteride to address potential DHT-related hair loss. Low ferritin levels due to frequent blood donations may also contribute to hair issues, and the user is working on stabilizing iron levels.
