TLDR The Facial Psoriasis Log-based Area and Severity Index is a more effective way to measure improvements in facial psoriasis than the traditional method.
The study, involving 118 patients with facial psoriasis, evaluated the effectiveness of the Facial Psoriasis Log-based Area and Severity Index (fPLASI) compared to the traditional Facial Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (fPASI) in measuring the severity of facial psoriasis after systemic treatments. The findings indicated that fPLASI was more sensitive in detecting changes in severity, showing greater percentage changes and aligning more closely with the Physician's Global Assessment than fPASI, which tended to underestimate improvements. A high correlation coefficient of 0.94 was observed between changes in fPASI and fPLASI scores, suggesting that fPLASI is a more valid and reliable method for assessing clinical improvement of facial psoriasis in clinical practice settings.

. ummwhatsure: No it doesn't. I started losing my hair around 27/28. Oral minoxidil can boost hair growth but may cause side effects like heart palpitations and increased body hair. Many prefer topical minoxidil due to fewer side effects.

community Androgenetic alopecia is a skin disease: DHT-mediated skin disorders

      in Research/Science  65 upvotes 1 year ago
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) impacts various skin conditions, including Androgenetic alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis, by causing overactivity in sebaceous glands. Topical medications Tacrolimus and Clobetasol can reduce these inflammatory conditions, and treatments like RU58841, Minoxidil, and Finasteride may also be beneficial.

Diffuse hair loss and scalp biopsies

community Diffuse hair loss and scalp biopsies

in Research  692 upvotes 3 months ago
Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
