TLDR The technique improves facial aging signs with a low risk of complications and a recovery time of about 3 weeks.
The document outlines an endoscopic midface lift technique developed by Quatela and Jacono, which has been performed in over 400 cases. This technique involves a subperiosteal release of the midface, repositioning the malar fat pad, suborbicularis oculi fat (SOOF), and soft tissues, and suspending them for facial rejuvenation. The procedure has shown significant improvements in midface ptosis, infraorbital hollowing, nasolabial fold depth, and jowling, with a low complication rate. Temporary neuropraxia occurred in 5% of cases, but there was no permanent nerve damage. Recovery time is typically longer than traditional rhytidectomy, with patients presentable at 2 weeks and resuming normal activities at 3 weeks. The technique is also useful in reconstructive applications for lower eyelid malposition.
