TLDR Acitretin can cause excess tissue growth and hair loss.
Oral acitretin, a retinoid used for treating psoriasis, was effective in normalizing cellular differentiation and maturation but had notable side effects. In a reported case, a psoriatic patient developed excess granulation tissue in the nail sulcus and experienced noncicatricial universal alopecia while on acitretin therapy.
