TLDR Errors found in identifying furosemide and finasteride polymorphs due to incomplete data.
The paper discusses errors in the identification of polymorphs of furosemide and finasteride due to incomplete data collections. The authors discovered errors in the reporting of claimed polymorphism that have their origins in a form of misinterpretation. They report on two such examples. One of the compounds studied is the important diuretic furosemide, and they have identified a significant inconsistency in the published single-crystal work. They have also come across a similar occurrence in the case of finasteride, a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. The paper provides details of their new interpretations.
