TLDR Clitocybin A can promote hair growth by increasing cell proliferation.
The study evaluated the hair growth-promoting effects of Clitocybin A from Clitocybe aurantiaca on dermal papilla cells (DPCs). Clitocybin A significantly increased the proliferation of immortalized rat vibrissa DPCs by promoting cell-cycle progression from G0/G1 to S phase and increasing levels of cell cycle proteins like cyclin D1, phospho-pRB, and phospho-CDK2. It also activated wnt/β-catenin signaling and the ERK pathway, which are crucial for hair follicle development and hair growth. These findings suggested that Clitocybin A could induce hair growth by enhancing DPC proliferation through these molecular mechanisms.
