TLDR Avemar may help in cancer treatment, but its effectiveness isn't proven yet.
The systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of fermented wheat germ extract (Avemar) as an adjunct therapy in cancer treatment. It included studies with participants of any age or gender, covering all cancer types and stages. The review considered various study designs, including randomized controlled trials and cohort studies, focusing on outcomes like survival rates, disease progression, and side effects. The search strategy involved multiple databases and sources for both published and unpublished studies. The review intended to synthesize quantitative data through meta-analysis, assessing methodological quality using standardized tools. The findings were to be presented in narrative form if statistical pooling was not feasible. No conflicts of interest were reported, and the review was part of a Master's degree submission.
