TLDR Using growth factor injections and minoxidil together can significantly improve hair growth in people with hair loss.
The study "Effectiveness of autologous growth factor concentrates combined with topical minoxidil in patients of androgenic alopecia" involved 22 patients diagnosed with androgenic alopecia (AGA). The patients were treated with deep intradermal injections of growth factor concentrate (GFC) in the scalp, with four injections administered four weeks apart. The results, assessed after 16 weeks of therapy, showed significant improvement in hair growth in all patients. The Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) suggested that GFC treatments were effective in treating AGA, and the majority of patients were satisfied with their improvement. The hair pull test was negative in 100% of patients four months post-therapy, indicating no hair loss. The therapy was well-tolerated with high patient satisfaction (100%). Additionally, treatments resulted in a faster rate of hair growth and a decrease in greasy and unpleasant sensation of hair. The study concluded that GFC has a promising role in the management of AGA in both males and females.
