TLDR PRP treatment significantly increases hair density in men with androgenetic alopecia.
The systematic review evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in men by analyzing randomized, placebo-controlled trials from PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library. The results, measured using Tricho-Scan, showed a significant increase in hair density in areas treated with PRP compared to saline. PRP was found to be more effective than conventional 5% minoxidil topical treatment and showed additional benefits when combined with minoxidil 5%, making it a viable alternative or complementary therapy for patients who did not respond well to minoxidil alone or experienced side effects.
