TLDR P144® improves hypertrophic scars by reducing size and thickness and increasing elasticity.
The study investigated the effects of P144®, an anti-TGF-β peptide, on hypertrophic scars using a human hypertrophic scar model in nude mice. Results showed that P144® significantly reduced scar formation, improved scar morphology, and decreased collagen deposition and myofibroblast presence. Histological analysis revealed increased elastic fibers and decreased collagen I in the treatment group. Although some variables did not show statistically significant differences, the findings suggested that P144® could be a promising therapeutic agent for managing hypertrophic scars by targeting TGF-β signaling pathways. Further research was recommended to confirm its efficacy.
