TLDR MK-386 and finasteride together effectively reduce DHT levels, potentially treating acne and male pattern baldness.
The study investigated the effect of MK-386, a novel inhibitor of type 1 5 alpha-reductase, alone and in combination with finasteride, on serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) concentrations in men. The results showed that MK-386 alone and in combination with finasteride significantly reduced serum DHT concentrations in a dose-dependent manner. The combination of MK-386 and finasteride was more effective than either drug alone. The study suggests that MK-386 may be a useful treatment for androgen-dependent disorders such as acne and male pattern baldness.
