Ectopic Hair on the Glans Penis

    Markus Braun‐Falco, Köhn Fm
TLDR A man grew hair on his penis, which is not common, and needed surgery to remove it.
In 2005, a case was reported of a 24-year-old man who developed an unusual condition where hair grew on his glans penis, an area that typically lacks hair follicles. The patient had an 18-month history of a symptomless, indurated canal on his glans, which later sprouted more than 30 black and blond hairs up to 3 cm long. There was no history of trauma, manipulation, or unusual sexual habits. A small raphe cyst was also found on the penile shaft but was not connected to the hair growth. Surgical intervention was performed, and histopathological examination confirmed the presence of a nearly normal hair follicle within the canal. Although there was no recurrence at the excision site, new hair growth appeared at a different location on the glans after 6 months, necessitating another excision.
