TLDR Root hair growth in wheat needs a specific G-actin gradient and high Ca2+ concentration at the tips.
The study suggested that the tip-focused gradient of intracellular G-actin concentration at the extreme apex was essential for root hair growth in wheat. It indicated that maintaining this gradient required a high concentration of Ca2+ in the root hair tips.
