TLDR The dog's hair discoloration was due to low zinc and hypothyroidism, not the medication.
The study focused on a 4-year-old male Rottweiler dog with alopecia and discoloration of body hair, initially suspected to be linked to the administration of Micanfin, a veterinary drug for dermetomycosis. Clinical examinations, including skin scraping and serum analysis, revealed low serum zinc levels and hypothyroidism, rather than side effects from Micanfin, as the cause of the symptoms. Treatment with zinc supplements and hypothyroidism management led to the restoration of the dog's hair color and activity levels. The study concluded that Micanfin did not cause leukotrichia, and the dog's condition was due to hypothyroidism.
