TLDR Certain foods and supplements can help treat skin diseases alongside medication.
This document reviews research from 2019 to 2022 on the effectiveness of dietary treatments for skin diseases, highlighting that such treatments can be a valuable complement to pharmacotherapy. The systematic review analyzed data from PubMed, Web of Science, and NAMMDR databases, focusing on conditions such as acne, allergic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, and others. The findings suggest that dietary interventions, including essential oils, bergamot juice, enhanced cow's milk, probiotics, Korean red ginseng, and various herbs and supplements, can be beneficial for treating skin conditions like acne vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and alopecia areata. For instance, ginger was found to have very good results in treating alopecia areata. The review emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and therapy, considering the complexity of causes, food composition, dietary supplements, and potential side effects for high efficacy in dermatological treatments.
