TLDR Avoiding certain nutrients and drugs may help manage pemphigus.
Individuals genetically predisposed to pemphigus developed the disease only when additional factors were present, though these factors were unknown. Certain drugs (penicillamine, captopril, and rifampicin) were recognized as triggers. The study suggested that some nutrients with similar chemical compositions to these drugs might also act as triggers. Nutritional factors, including components found in fruit, leaves, roots, seeds, and water, were suspected. Potential causative candidates included thiol, thiocyanate, phenols, and tannins. Eliminating these inciting ingredients could be crucial for managing the disease.
