TLDR Researchers developed a new device that improves non-incision hair transplant efficiency.
In 2018, researchers developed a novel device to improve the efficiency of non-incision hair transplantation, particularly for the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method. The device features adjustable needle length (5mm to 10mm) to suit various scalp thicknesses, an optimized needle shape for easier follicle collection, and a main controller for precise needle rotation speed. It also includes a disassemblable handpiece for cleaning and an LED light for better visibility. Doctors who reviewed the device confirmed its advantages over existing systems. The paper highlighted the intention to enhance the device further to allow automatic continuous rotation of the needles in both directions. The study did not mention the number of participants involved in testing the device and was supported by the Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation of Korea.
