Dermoscopic And Clinical Features Of Alopecia Areata In Pakistani Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study

    The study on 800 Pakistani patients with Alopecia Areata, conducted at THQ Hospital Layyah, found that the condition affects both genders almost equally, with 52.9% females and 47.1% males. The scalp was the most common site, observed in 89.9% of cases. Dermoscopic examination revealed yellow dots in 79.9% of patients, black dots in 33.1%, exclamation mark hairs in 42.5%, and other features like short villus hairs, broken hairs, pigtail hairs, and Pohl-Pinkus constriction. A significant correlation was found between age and these dermoscopic features, with most patients being young, aged 10-30.
