Three Devon Rex cats exhibited multiple erythematous papules with crusting and hyperpigmentation, and one had multifocal alopecia. They were diagnosed with papular eosinophilic/mastocytic dermatitis, resembling urticaria pigmentosa-like dermatitis, and dermatophytosis. Histopathological evidence and positive fungal cultures for Microsporum canis confirmed dermatophytosis. Antifungal treatment resolved the lesions in all cats. The study highlighted that this dermatitis in Devon Rex cats could be an atypical presentation of dermatophytosis or a reaction pattern to various diseases, emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnosis to guide appropriate treatment, particularly avoiding glucocorticoids in dermatophytosis cases.
