TLDR COVID-19 can cause various skin issues, like rashes and hair loss, which help in early diagnosis.
A cross-sectional study conducted from May 2020 to October 2021 on COVID-19 positive patients in Bangladesh identified various dermatological manifestations associated with the virus. The most common skin findings were maculo-papular eruptions (53.6%), followed by chilblain-like eruptions (41.2%), petechiae or purpura (16.5%), and alopecia (16.5%). The study highlights the importance of dermatologists in early recognition of these skin lesions, which can aid in the early diagnosis of COVID-19, especially in asymptomatic cases, potentially leading to better patient outcomes. The dermatological patterns observed were classified into inflammatory reactions and lesions of vascular origin.
