TLDR Many workers in mines, textile, and food factories have skin mites, with textile workers having the most, and women more than men.
The study investigated the prevalence of Demodex, a type of mite that lives in human hair follicles and can cause skin disorders, in three different occupational groups: Mine, Textile, and Food Factory Workers (102 participants in total). The results showed a high rate of Demodex positivity in all three groups: 50% in mine workers, 45.3% in food factory workers, and 66.7% in textile manufacturing workers. However, there was no significant difference between the groups (p=0.320). The prevalence of Demodex was significantly higher in female workers than in male workers (p=0.029). The study suggests that changes in the work environment or the use of suitable protective equipment may help treat diseases caused by Demodex, but further studies with larger and more diverse industry groups are needed.
