TLDR DDS treatment for LABD can cause severe side effects like anemia and hair loss, requiring careful monitoring.
This document described a case of a Japanese patient with Linear IgA Bullous Dermatosis (LABD) who developed hemolytic anemia and alopecia as side effects of diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) treatment. Although DDS is the first-line therapy for LABD, it can cause severe side effects, including hemolytic anemia, which can be masked by iron deficiency anemia (IDA). The patient's hair loss improved after reducing the DDS dosage, highlighting the need for careful monitoring of LABD patients on DDS to detect and manage adverse effects like hemolytic anemia and alopecia.
