TLDR Skin problems after waxing led to a sarcoidosis diagnosis.
A 52-year-old woman developed multiple asymptomatic skin eruptions on her forearms one month after waxing, which persisted despite treatment. Examination revealed non-pruritic, non-tender papules and an atrophic alopecic plaque on her scalp. Histopathology showed epithelioid granulomas, and pulmonary evaluation revealed nodules in the lungs. She was diagnosed with sarcoidosis and responded well to treatment with oral steroids, hydroxychloroquine, and topical corticosteroids. This case highlights that even minor trauma, such as waxing, can trigger cutaneous sarcoidosis, emphasizing the need to consider it in differential diagnoses for skin lesions at trauma sites.
