Kuldip Das, Tanmay Padhi, Deepak Panigrahi, Ranjan Dash
TLDR Chemotherapy often causes skin, hair, and nail problems in cancer patients.
This study investigated the cutaneous adverse effects of chemotherapy in 120 cancer patients. Chemotherapy, while targeting cancer cells, also affects rapidly proliferating cells such as those in the skin, hair, and nails. The study involved taking photographic images of these areas before and after each chemotherapy cycle. The findings highlight the prevalence of skin-related side effects in patients undergoing chemotherapy, emphasizing the need for clinicians to be aware of and manage these adverse effects to improve patient care. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 16.0.
