TLDR Prednisolone improved symptoms in a woman with Cronkhite-Canada syndrome, but regular screenings are needed due to cancer risk.
A 60-year-old woman with Cronkhite-Canada syndrome exhibited symptoms including nausea, vomiting, taste disorder, alopecia, onichodystrophy, and epigastric pain. Endoscopic examination revealed multiple polyp-like lesions throughout her digestive tract. Pathological analysis confirmed edematous changes and cystic gland dilatation. Prednisolone therapy at 40 mg per day led to significant improvement in clinical symptoms, laboratory data, and polyposis. Despite favorable outcomes with prednisolone, there is a risk of carcinogenesis, necessitating periodic digestive tract screening even after mucosal improvement.
