In 2014, a study involving 159 male patients aged 18-55 years with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) was conducted to investigate the correlation between AGA, Carotid Intima Media Thickness (CIMT), and Aortic Stiffness Index (ASI). The results showed a significant correlation, with higher stages of AGA associated with higher CIMT and ASI values, indicating early onset atherosclerosis. The study concluded that patients with AGA should be closely monitored for coronary artery disease due to the increased atherosclerotic changes caused by androgenic activity, and suggested regular checks of CIMT and ASI values in AGA patients to help prevent future adverse cardiovascular events.
