TLDR Coenzyme Q10 may protect liver function but doesn't reduce hair loss from anthracycline antibiotics.
The study investigated the protective effects of coenzyme Q10 on hair loss caused by anthracycline antibiotics using a double-blind method. It included 19 participants with acute leukemia, blastic crisis of CML, and malignant lymphoma. Participants received either 120 mg/day of coenzyme Q10 or a placebo. The study found no significant difference in hair loss between the coenzyme Q10 and placebo groups. However, elevations of liver enzymes GOT and GPT were less frequent in the group receiving coenzyme Q10, suggesting a potential protective effect on liver function.
