TLDR The Core Curriculum for Hair Restoration Surgery aims to improve doctor training for better, safer, and more natural-looking hair loss treatments.
In January 2006, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) introduced the Core Curriculum for Hair Restoration Surgery (CCHRS), which sets forth the necessary knowledge and skills for physicians to effectively diagnose and treat hair loss. The curriculum emphasizes patient safety and the achievement of natural-looking results, reflecting the shift in hair restoration techniques towards the use of smaller grafts for more natural hairlines and patterns. The CCHRS aims to guide training programs in surgery and dermatology and establish a new standard for educational excellence in the field. It also addresses the current insufficiency of hair transplantation training in dermatology and advocates for interdisciplinary care and formal fellowship programs. The ISHRS plans to keep the curriculum updated to ensure its ongoing relevance for physician education.
