    TLDR The surgery effectively promoted and maintained weight loss in obese women during the first year.
    The study evaluated the clinical and nutritional outcomes of 61 obese women during the first year after undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Significant reductions in weight, BMI, and waist circumference were observed, with an average weight loss of 36.6% and a 75% loss of excessive weight. Improvements in lipid profiles were also noted. Common postoperative issues included alopecia, asthenia, dry skin, and cramps. Overall, the surgery was effective in promoting and maintaining weight loss during the first year.
