TLDR Balneophototherapy effectively treats ichthyosis linearis circumflexa but may need ongoing treatment due to short remission.
A 13-year-old boy with severe ichthyosis linearis circumflexa was treated with balneophototherapy, involving salt water baths and UVB radiation, 3-5 times weekly. After 40 treatments, his skin lesions nearly cleared, and maintenance UVB therapy was continued twice weekly for 2 months. Despite initial success, the disease relapsed after 4 months. Balneophototherapy was found to be an effective and well-tolerated treatment, though intermittent therapy might be necessary to manage the disease due to short remission periods.
