TLDR CVP therapy showed moderate success in treating advanced non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, but more intensive treatment is needed for better outcomes.
Thirty-one patients with advanced non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were treated with CVP therapy, consisting of vincristine, cyclophosphamide, and prednisolone, from 1974 to 1977. The study found a complete response (CR) in 53% of patients and a partial response (PR) in 18%. The median survival time was 19 months, with complete responders having significantly better survival rates. Toxicities were mild and included peripheral neuropathy, hair loss, and leukopenia. The study suggested that more intensive chemotherapy with additional potent agents was needed to improve CR rates and duration.
