TLDR Patients with PCOS face poor communication and support from healthcare professionals.
This systematic review and qualitative evidence synthesis identified key challenges faced by patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) when interacting with healthcare professionals (HCPs). Analyzing 28 studies, the review found that interactions were problematic due to inadequate sharing of medical information, insufficient opportunities for information provision and deliberation, lack of support for patient activation, and health system barriers exacerbated by HCP behavior. The study suggests future research should focus on implementing and evaluating frameworks for better information sharing and patient support in PCOS care.
