TLDR Bimatoprost eye drops can cause temporary eyelid changes and may help with hair growth research.
A 72-year-old glaucoma patient experienced hyperpigmentation and hypertrichosis of the eyelids after using bimatoprost eye drops for four weeks, side effects occurring in 1-10% of patients. These effects were reversible and highlighted the potential of prostaglandin analogues, despite being second-line treatments due to side effects, in hair biology research. The case suggested further exploration of prostaglandin analogues for treating hair loss conditions like androgenetic alopecia and hair depigmentation issues.
