TLDR Wearing a cap doesn't affect quality of life for Indian men with hair loss, but severe hair loss does lower it. Older men have more severe hair loss, and those who wear caps more often want less treatment.
In 2017, a study was conducted on 97 Indian male patients over 50 years old with androgenic alopecia to examine the relationship between cap wearing habits and quality of life. The study found no significant link between cap wearing habits and quality of life (p=0.348). However, the severity of androgenic alopecia was significantly associated with the quality of life (p=0.003), indicating that more severe hair loss led to a poorer quality of life. The study also discovered that as the patient's age increased, so did the severity of androgenic alopecia (p=0.012). Interestingly, as the hours of cap wearing increased, the desire for treatment for androgenic alopecia decreased substantially (p=0.001).
