TLDR Cadmium sticks to hair differently for each person, and strong acid can mostly remove it.
The study investigated the adsorption and elution of cadmium on human and mouse hair using a radioactive isotope technique. It was found that cadmium adsorption on human hair varied individually, ranging from 0 to 100%, likely due to differences in hair acidity. Cadmium accumulated in mouse hair solely from the hair follicle when injected with cadmium 109. A strong acid solution could nearly completely remove cadmium from hair, but the methods used were ineffective in distinguishing between exogenous and endogenous cadmium in hair.
