TLDR Botanical extract improved well-being and skin health in a test group compared to a placebo.
A clinical study involving 30 volunteers aged 36 to 66 years old evaluated the effects of a botanical extract on overall well-being and skin aging. The participants were divided into two groups, with one group applying a cream containing the botanical extract and the other a placebo, twice daily for 28 days. The study used the WHO-5 Well-being Index, saliva oxytocin measurements, and Emotion Capture© Technology to assess well-being, while skin aging was evaluated through forehead skin topography analysis and skin complexion measurements. The results showed that the group using the botanical extract experienced improved overall well-being, increased saliva oxytocin levels, and enhanced emotional state after 28 days. Additionally, this group exhibited improved skin complexion and decreased forehead surface roughness, suggesting healthier, smoother, and more relaxed skin. The placebo group did not show these improvements. The study suggests that activating mechanosensory receptors could have potential benefits for overall well-being and skin aging.
