Blockade of S100A3 activity inhibits murine hair growth

TLDR Stopping S100A3 activity slows down hair growth in mice.
In the 2015 study by Guan et al., the role of S100A3 in hair growth was examined using a mouse model. The researchers found that blocking S100A3 activity with an anti-S100A3 antibody led to delayed hair growth, shorter hair shafts, and fewer hair follicles. This was accompanied by lower expression of genes associated with hair growth induction. The study, which involved 20 mice divided into two groups of 10, concluded that S100A3 is important for hair regeneration and could be a potential target for hair loss treatments.
