TLDR Selenium disulfide shampoo effectively reduces dandruff and is well-liked by users.
A 4-week study involving 93 adult subjects of various hair types and phototypes assessed the effectiveness of selenium disulfide (SeS2) shampoo in treating moderate-to-severe dandruff. The study found significant reductions (p<0.05) in clinical signs and subjective symptoms of dandruff across all hair types. Subjects, who were predominantly women (83%) and of European (69%) or African (31%) origins, reported high levels of satisfaction with the shampoo's benefits, acceptability, and cosmeticity. The SeS2 shampoo was deemed safe and effective, potentially improving long-term compliance.
