TLDR Almost 40% of older men in the study had hair loss on the front and side of their legs, and most were unaware of it.
In a study conducted in Poland, 903 men aged between 20 and 52 years were examined for anterolateral leg alopecia, a common form of hair loss. The study found that 39.97% of the participants aged from 36 to 52 were diagnosed with this condition. Most of the participants (97.78%) were not aware of the existence of such skin lesions. The study concluded that the incidence of acquired frictional alopecia of the lower extremities may be greater than reflected in previously published reports. The cause of anterolateral leg alopecia remains unknown, with various hypotheses proposed but none substantiated.
