TLDR AMT is the best surfactant for hair and scalp care.
The study investigated the effects of six anionic surfactants on hair and scalp, focusing on irritation, protein denaturation, and other factors. Tests showed varying results for irritation, with immersion tests aligning closely with protein denaturation and sorption data. The irritation scores correlated with the amount of surfactant absorbed by hide and keratin powders. Surfactants affected the turnover time of the stratum corneum and dandruff production, with AMT and ES shampoos showing different impacts. The disintegration of the hair cuticle varied among surfactants, with AMT causing the least damage. Overall, AMT was considered a good surfactant for hair and scalp care.
